9 days/ 8 nights/ 7
rounds of golf, from/to Zurich
Zurich - Bad Ragaz – Flims -
St.Moritz - Lucerne - Zurich
Day 1
Zurich. Individual arrival in Zurich
You take over your rental car and spend the night in Zurich. The day is free
for you to enjoy, for example with visit to the beautiful historic part of the
town or a relaxing cruise on Lake Zurich.
Day 2
Zurich - Bad Ragaz (100 kilometers / 60 miles)
Short Drive to Bad Ragaz, where you check into your hotel. You will be
playing on the splendid Golf Course Bad Ragaz (18 hole „Championship“, Par 70,
length 5700 m). The only Championship Course owned by a hotel is located right
in the heart of „Heidiland“. Here the trees were given more than a hundred years
to grow freely and this makes the course rather wild, not just a stroll through
the park from hole to hole. At least Donald Harradine didn’t go overboard during
his redesigning in the early 1930s, so the wealthy clientele remained happy.
Historical Maienfeld with its world-famous Heidi hamlet, the villages Malans,
Fläsch and Jenins and the charming ‘Alter Torkel’ wine tavern surrounded by
vineyards is an invitation to make a leisurely detour. Continue on to Flims
(40km); two nights at a hotel.
Day 3 Flims
Play golf on the
beautiful course of Sagogn in the Upper Grison (18-hole championship course,
length 5,950m, par 72 and only 18-hole championship course in the area). The
challenge consists of water hazards, tricky grass bunkers, naturally raised
tees, the overall length and several sand bunkers.Sagogn is a traditional,
charming, small Grison village with a very favourable climate, nestling in the
beautiful Rhine Valley. Enjoy the magnificent view of the mountains and the
historical town of Ilanz, the first one on the Rhine.
Day 4 Flims – St. Moritz/Zuoz
(82km/17km)
After leaving Flims,
drive towards the sleepy Albula Valley, to one of Switzerland’s most beautiful
golf courses, the Bad Alvaneu Golf Club (18-hole championship course, length
5,910m, par 72). Picturesque villages snuggle up to the mountain slopes and the
traditional RHB train passes across centuries-old viaducts through countryside
that seems like a dream straight out of Alice in Wonderland. The journey
continues with an impressive drive through the Julier Pass (at an altitude of
2,284m), along the beautiful Lake of Sils, to the world-famous Engadine. After a
short stop at St. Moritz, travel on to Zuoz.
Zuoz, once the capital of the Upper Engadine district, is today a popular
tourist resort situated directly on the route of the Engadine ski marathon. Many
carefully restored houses from the 16th century and earlier adorn
this historical Engadine village. Two nights at one of the local hotels.
Day 5 St. Moritz/Zuoz
Experience an alpine
golf feeling today on the beautiful course of Zuoz-Madulein, an excellent
18-hole course with a very special design (par 72, length 6,007m). Savour the
aura of larches over 700 years old, tortuous brooks and the majestic Muottas
Muragl. There will be enough time in the afternoon for a visit to the Zernez
National Park or leisurely shopping in St. Moritz
Day 6 St. Moritz –
Lucerne (170km) Leaving the
Grison Mountains, your journey takes you through striking scenery towards
Central Switzerland and to Lucerne. Outside Lucerne, the 9-hole Bürgenstock
course (par 33, length 2,098m) awaits you high above Lake Lucerne. The golf
course is situated in a fairytale wood, where the stories seem to live on. Enjoy
marvellous views of the Pilatus, the Stanserhorn summit and the Urn Alps.
Idyllic scenes that allow time to pass a little slower and evoke a sense of deep
contentment. Two nights in Lucerne.
Day 7 Lucerne
The golf course Lake Sempach near Lucerne is the only one in Switzerland
that offers two complete 18 hole courses, plus the wonderful view of the Alps
and Lake Sempach (2x18 hole „Championship“, Par 72, length 6161 m). Exactly here
on the shores of the peaceful Lake Sempach, which is surrounded by meadows and
fruit trees, one of the most important battles in the history of Central
Switzerland took place in 1386. And now you find one of the largest golf
settings in Switzerland, located on the „sunny balcony of Switzerland“ with 36
Holes and championship character. The wide fairways are comfortable to play, but
the undulating approach areas and the difficult to read greens make the whole
matter quite tricky. And you can easily be distracted by the pleasant views
either across the plain towards the pretty lake or towards the impressive
mountain ranges on the horizon. After the golf there is enough time to explore
the spectacular, fascinating old historical town of Lucerne or even go for an
unforgettable cruise on famous Lake Lucerne with one of the majestic vintage
steamboats.
